I replaced my ignition, my car was stolen and the person took my key with him when he abandoned my car. I replaced the ignition and when I turn the key it does not start and the dash lights come on, but that's all it will do. If I jump the starter it will start but shuts off in lets say 5 seconds.

Hi,

it seems your key must be reprogrammed to synchronize with the engine control unit, perform the procedure as described below.
Without using scan tool this procedure takes approximately 30 minutes. Make sure the battery is fully charged before proceeding.

1. Turn the ignition switch off.
2. Turn the ignition switch all the way from off to the start position, then leave it in the on position.
Note: the engine will not crank.
3. The security will come on and stay on for at least 10 minutes.
4. Turn the ignition switch off for five seconds.
5. Repeat steps 2, 3, and 4 again for the second time.
6. Repeat 2, 3, and 4 again for the third time.
7. Turn the ignition switch off.
8. Turn the ignition switch all the way to the start position. The engine should now start.

Figure 1 and 2 below are the programming procedure by using scan tool.

Thank you.
