I was driving earlier in the day and my back wheels locked up. I do not know what's the problem. I was hearing weird noises from my driver side rear sounds like scratching sounds, when I was driving it, my car finally drove even though I still heard the noise, I check brake cable once I made it home nothing seems broken, but I did notice a major hole in my left rear rotor something came through it. Please help.

Hi,

The parking brake shoe assembly is behind the brake rotor (the area that is broken). Something must have come apart and damaged the rotor.

I attached the directions for replacing the parking brake shoes below. Use these directions to access and inspect the parking brake assembly. If I had to guess, I suspect one of the shoe retainers came apart and allowed one of the shoes to break through the rotor.

Let me know what you find or if I can help in any way.

Take care,

joe

See pics below. Note: The rotor needs replacing.
