The mechanic replaced the rear left door lock and he says it's getting power but not grounded. Where is the ground wire for the rear door lock?

Hello, I am Danny.

I have attached a wiring diagram showing the door lock circuit to show your mechanic. It looks like the circuit is grounded off of the Door Lock Actuator. Hope this helps and feel free to ask any questions if needed. Thanks for using 2CarPros.

Hello again.

It will be located on the power door lock actuator. That is located in top rear of left rear door, near door latch. I have attached a picture of what it looks like and circled the wiring connector in red. I have also attached a link showing how to remove/replace. Hope this helps and thanks again for using 2Carpros.

How do I ground the rear door lock? I was thinking there is a green wire that attaches to the metal part somewhere inside the door.

Hello again.

The ground will be located on the Power Door Lock Actuator. That is located in top rear of left rear door, near door latch. I have attached a picture of what it looks like and circled the wiring connector in red. The ground is in the harness that attaches to this actuator. I have attached another picture. The wires are grey and tan, not green. Hope this helps and thanks again for using 2Carpros.

I understand that the rear door lock is grounded by the harness, how does the harness get grounded?

The harness ground will be inside the cab near the firewall but you can make your own ground by running a new ground wire to the circuit. I found these wiring diagrams to help you see how the system works.

Use a test light connected to power and test the system grounds. Here is a guide and the door lock wiring diagrams:

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what happens.

Cheers, Ken
