Usually there is a card with the 4 digit unlock code in the vehicle, comes in the owners manual or loose in the glove box. Sometimes it's written in the manual as well. There used to be a number (800-537-5140) that you called that could be used to unlock them but it was getting abused so they shut it off in 2020. Now the only way to unlock them is to use a tech 2 scan tool and remove the lock or visit the dealership and pay them to do it. Some dealers will get you the code free if you bring the vehicle in show them the registration and give them the scrambled code from the radio. To get the scrambled codes you turn the key on, then hold the 2&3 buttons down until the display changes and gives you 3 numbers, write those down, now press the AM-FM button and you should get 3 more numbers, write those down. Now go to the dealer and give them those numbers and they can get you the 4 digit code. Once you have the code you need to enter it. Have the code ready, turn the ignition on and then hold the hour button down until the display changes to 000. Now you set the first two digits in the same way you set the clock. Use the HR button to set the first 2 digits of the unlock code. Now use the minute button to set the last 2 digits of the code. Now press the AM-FM button and it will enter the code and unlock it. Do this right in their lot as there were 2 times when I did this where the code didn't work, in both cases it was because the 6-digit code was reversed, IE the radio said 123 - 456 but in reality, it was 456 - 123. In that case they can run the codes reversed and try that code. You get three tries and then the radio will lock, and you have to wait 1 hour with the key on before you can try again.
You will still find the old methods listed online using the 800 number, but while the code retrieval still works the call in doesn't so even having a dealer code doesn't help anymore. Sorry, there isn't an easier method, other than just installing an aftermarket unit, but then you may lose driver memory presets if it has them.
