After replacing Mass Air Sensor check engine light turned on

Put mass air sensor in, check engine light came on 2 days later. Going home and it would barely run. Shifted down to third and got it to mechanic. Code is 1.

Welcome to 2CarPros. What was the reason you replaced the MAF for? Any codes or CEL prior to replacement? Is the replacement part a new OEM or after-market piece?
How was it running prior to the replacement part?

So before the part was replaced it would whine and then jerk? Did it shut down or have other problems? Is the check engine light on now? Do you have a way to scan it to get the codes?
