My truck's powertrain light comes on sometimes when I drive, but I am not losing any power and my temperature stays normal. it only comes on when the car is quite cool or getting wind at higher speeds. if I turn of the ignition and back on the light is gone.

Good morning,

The ECM sees a fault stored when you first start it. I need that code to help you.

This video will show you what to do

https://youtu.be/InIlnsjOVFA

and

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/can-scan-controller-area-network-easy

or

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/checking-a-service-engine-soon-or-check-engine-light-on-or-flashing

You can go to a parts store and have it checked for free. Once you get the code, post it here and I can help narrow the are of failure.

Good morning,

This light indicates a fault code is stored in the computer.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/checking-a-service-engine-soon-or-check-engine-light-on-or-flashing

The code needs to be identified, diagnostics performed and repairs made to get the light to turn off.

If you go to a parts store, you can have the code read for free. Once we know the code, we can help you with possible failures.

Hey RUDESTAN

The drive train light is telling you have a problem with the transfer case or transmission. The same as a check engine light scan the PCM for trouble codes, if the car is running okay it is probably safe to drive so don't worry there. Here are a couple of guide that will help us get started getting the codes.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/checking-a-service-engine-soon-or-check-engine-light-on-or-flashing

and

It sounds like a transmission shaft speed sensor problem but I want to be sure.

Please let us know happens so it will help others.

Best, Ken

Hello, I'm Danny.

This means you have trouble codes (check engine light) stored in your vehicles computer. You say the power-train light keeps flashing? First thing I suggest is to have the code(s) checked. If you don't have access to a scanner/code reader your local auto parts stores have a tool loaner program and can rent you one. Here is a tutorial showing what is involved:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/checking-a-service-engine-soon-or-check-engine-light-on-or-flashing

Once you have the codes please get back to us with the code numbers and we will be happy to help properly diagnose your vehicle.Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.
