I just bought the vehicle listed above, and the seats don't want to move. I saw that one plug underneath the driver's side had been completely cut off. But apart from that, there's no relay in the fuse box. When I tried to put a new relay, it sparked super bad and burnt the relay immediately.

Hi,

That isn't good. You must have a direct short. I'm looking at the wiring schematic and see where power goes through the relay box under the dash, but it isn't showing a relay. Where do you see the relay?

Also, I attached the wiring schematic below. I need to know which wires are cut.

Let me know. Also, please confirm the relay you referred to. Could you be referring to the circuit breaker?

Let me know.

Joe

See pics below. Note: I had to cut the schematic in two to make it readable. I did overlap the two so you can follow from one to the next. Also, is the relay you are referring to the one in pic 3? That is the body control relay. And pic 4 is the circuit breaker for the seats.

Hi, oh! I meant circuit breaker like you said. The one in pic 4. And well, honestly, I tried to stick a fuse in there where the circuit breaker goes because I thought I might be the same thing, and it immediately sparked. And I attached.

Hi,

Wow, they left you a mess. The first thing we need to do is determine where the short is located. Since that one circuit breaker powers both seats, disconnect the passenger side. Also, make sure the driver's side connector is disconnected if it isn't already. See if you still get a spark. If you do, we will need to work backward to find where the short is.

Make sure there is nothing in the fuse box that could be causing the problem. Also, the orange wire at the seats is the power supply. Make sure they aren't touching anything that could cause them to short.

If it still sparks, disconnect the battery. Check for continuity to ground on both pins to which the circuit breaker connects. Actually, if you would rather prevent sparking, you can do this. With the battery disconnected, you shouldn't have continuity to ground. Disconnect the neg battery terminal when you do it.

I hope I didn't just confuse you. It's my thought process. If connectors are disconnected, there should be no continuity to ground, so rather than causing things to short, you can do it this way. They cut everything and removed the circuit breaker for a reason. We need to figure out why.

Let me know what you find.
