Recently bought this vehicle for wifey filled with electronic gadgets. Rear tailgate had no function including locking/unlocking. Found out seats were shorting out and blowing silver fuse. So previous owner removed fuse and left seats as is looked and repaired short under seat, but still no function. Please help this is driving me batty.

Hi,

If the fuse you refer to is in the rear of the vehicle, that's a circuit breaker. If it still is kicking off, we need to narrow it down.

First, confirm there is power to the orange wire on both the driver's and passenger's seats. If there is and the circuit breaker kicks, disconnect one seat to see if the circuit breaker doesn't kick. By doing this, we can determine which seat has the short.

Also, note there is a splice in the orange wire between the circuit breaker and the driver's side switch. That could be the issue as well. I circled it in the pic.

Here is a link you may find helpful when testing wiring:

Also, I attached the wiring schematic below for the power seats. I highlighted and circled places to check for power. I had to cut the pic in half to make it readable, but I did overlap them so you can follow from one to the next.

Try this and let me know the results.

Take care,

Joe
