Hey, I am a new member in this forum, I think that you might help me.
Here is the deal: I recently repaired the motor because of overheating problems and when we started the car again the check was on and it will not rev more than 2500 rpm, the car does not shut off or anything, just wont rev more than that. The sensor at first show the code p1189 and we took it to repair the pressure fuel pump believing that was the problem, but for our luck it was not. The scanner shows codes p1187 and p1188. I do not know what to do. Please help!

Note: I checked the injectors and then were working fine. I did not have this problem before repairing the motor so I do not know what could have gone wrong.
Thank you for your time and sorry for my English I am from Ecuador. :P

Good afternoon.

It sounds like either the catalytic converter is clogged or possibly the timing belt may be the issue. If the timing is off, it will limit the rpm of the motor.

Have you checked the compression?
