Power lift gate will not open in Manual or power mode

When I push the button on the remote or overhead console you can hear and see that the power lift is trying to push the gate up/open, and you can hear the latch click as if it is trying to open as well but will not open. Even in manual mode it is as if the latch will not release. I have drilled out the indent on the interior trim and have slid a screwdriver in the hole to push on the spring-loaded release inside the liftgate to open the latch, but the gate still will not release. Can anyone tell me what I should try next?

This happens when the liftgate motor locks up or the gear strips out not allowing the liftgate to move, you will need to undo the interior panel to get at the motor to disassemble. This can be a little tight, but the plastic will give and allow the job to be done. Check out the diagrams (below). Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem.

Yep, that's the hard part, you need to get in there and start undoing screws, the parts are plastic so they will give a little to be removed. I remember the interior guys removing the rear seats to help with the repair. Here are some diagrams to help you remove the panels.
