I took my car to be inspected and it failed emissions. The code they gave me came up as the coolant temp sensor, which I replaced. My check engine light is still one. I disconnected the battery to see if that would resolve it, which it did not. I let the car idle for 30 minutes, still no change. When I turn the car on, immediately the fan comes on. The gauge on the dash also has not risen at all. I have plenty of coolant.

I don't know the actual code? Check the circuits at connector, cts. Ref voltage and ground, ref voltage should be 5 volts, use a digital voltmeter. Check ground also. Maybe a problem with wiring circuit? If you use the digital multimeter between the two terminals at the connector, key on, what does it read?
