Hi,

When I turn on the wipers they do not always come on. If you leave the switch on they will come on at some time and then go off when they feel like it. I have been told to replace the Motor assembly that would include the Control module or the Control module by itself. Could it also be the relay?

1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using test light connected to ground, backprobe wiper/washer switch 48-pin connector C201, terminal E9 (Yellow wire). Connector is located to left side of steering column, near base. See Fig. 1 . If test light is on, go to step 3 . If test light is off, go to next step. 2. Check FRT WPR/WSHR fuse (25-amp). If fuse is okay, check for open in Yellow wire between connector C201, terminal E9 and FRT WPR/WSHR fuse terminal in fuse block. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If fuse is blown, check Yellow wire for short to ground between connector C201, terminal E9 and FRT WPR/WSHR fuse terminal in fuse block. Repair as necessary and retest system. 3. Turn wiper/washer switch to HIGH position. Using test light connected to ground, backprobe wiper switch connector C201, terminal E4 (Purple wire). If test light is on, go to next step. If test light is off, check for poor connection or open in Yellow wire between connector C201, terminal E9 and FRT WPR/WSHR fuse terminal in fuse block. If wiring is okay, replace wiper/washer switch. See appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. 4. Disconnect wiper motor 5-pin connector. Connect test light between wiper motor connector terminal "C" (Purple wire) and ground. If test light is on, go to next step. If test light is off, repair open in Purple wire or poor connection between wiper connector C201, terminal E4 and wiper motor connector terminal "C". See WIRING DIAGRAMS . 5. Connect test light between wiper motor connector terminals "C" (Purple wire) and "A" (Black wire). If test light is on, check for poor connection at wiper motor. If connection is okay, replace front wiper motor. See WIPER MOTOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If test light is off, repair poor connection or open in Black wire between wiper motor connector terminal "A" and ground connection under right side of dash, to left of A/C heater vent. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
