1997 Pontiac Montana windshield wipers

1997 Pontiac Montana 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive 160K miles

The wipers on my 97 Pontiac Montana stay up when shut off, instead of going down. They go down, but then come back up, and stay parked there. What is the problem, and how can I fix it? Thank You

Disconnect the wiper transmision and remove. Run whiper on intermitment cycle and turn of power during cycle pause. Set the wiper transmision gear backm on the wiper motor and tighten screw. The timing is now set to park down. If it gets out of sync again then most likely culprit is wiper motor
