44 is that O2 indicates a lean condition.
45 is rich.

If a lean condition has been detected the PCM will rchen the mixture. A lean condition is caused by unmeterd air getting into the combustion chamber.
Vacuum leaks (check hoses and around the intake and throttle body) and a dirty/bad MAF (mass air flow sensor) are prime suspects.

Also check the fuel pressure and run some injector cleaner thru a tank or two. I like chevron with techron.

Good luck and let us know. :)
