Hi, I need help. On monday I put my 99 pont. Grand prix gt, 112,000miles in the shop for tune up and mystery whinning noise. 1200$ later, I had rack and pin, new power steering pump, tune up, 3 tires, diagnostic -(all clear) and told tranny needed looked at. I want u to know my car was running fine. Just a lil bogged down, hence the tune up. Wednesday car in trans shop, got new tranny and car back fri. Now its all messed up. Motor is mising, trans is slipping, clicking noise coming somewhere between dash and steering column when I shift to park, not smooth shifting, and lights on dash not telling me what gear im in. Oh and now my engine light is on. And car idles and runs jerky. 3,000$ later car back in tranny shop, and telling me its my tune up? What is going on? If u have any idea please let me know thank you

Doesnt sound as though I would want either one of them touching my car again. Is there another shop, perhaps one reccomended by a friend that you could take it to for a diagnosis? The check engine light can be scanned for free at Autozone or many other parts stores. Need to find out what the PCM isnt happy with first. Im gonna guess there is something wrong with the Neutral Safety Switch/ Gear position switch, due to the fact that it doesnt show what gear it is in anymore. Have it scanned and get back to us

Unfortunately. Both shops are 100% guaranteed. So im stuck with tranny shop. Car is there now. I guess what I want to know is if in process of getting new trans its poss that not being installed correctly, somewhere somehow it could cause all these symptoms?

Sounds like more of a case of what was damaged instead of installed incorrectly

Took ur advice had safety switch replaced, and all wires checked, and still no gear notification on dash, any ideas, they claim cant find it
