1999 grand prix gt 3800 w/104,400 miles. Ignition switch will not return far enough to remove the key when placed in park. Transmission work done about 1 month ago to replace. Solenoids? Otherwise vehicle repair history unknown.

I had to issues with keys and ignitions with two different Pontiacs. The first was that the key doesn't stay inside the slot. Like hit a pot-hole and out comes the key whiling driving. So I changed the ignition lock. Any local garage can do that, don't go to the dealer.
The second was the key doesn't comes out of the ignition at all, which jammed the gear lock. So I changed the ignition lock, works perfectly now. I think u should change your ignition lock.

Laters, take it easy,
some feedback would be appreciated

I figured changing the ignition lock would be the quickest fix after reading a few other posts. Thanks for your input.
