WHEN YOU SHUT THE CAR OFF THE KEY WILL NOT GO INTO LOCKED POSITION AND CAN NOT REMOVE, BUT IF YOU CLICK THE BUTTON ON THE GEAR SHIFTER A FEW TIMES YOU HEAR A CLICK BY THE IGNITION SWITCH AND THEN THE KEY WILL GO INTO THE LOCK POSITION. WHAT COULD CAUSE THIS ANNOYING PROBLEM. THANKS TIM

Tim--I had a similar problem with my 97 Grand Am.I ended up getting it towed on two different occassions because I couldn't get the key out or get the car started. It was a problem with the battery both times. I had it replaced the first time and the second time they just cleaned off the terminals and it worked until I sold it last year.
