2004 Pontiac Grand Prix 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a 2004 grand prix 3.8L V6. Every once in a while when I start the car, it turns over but then dies. However, if I give it gas and rev up the engine when I start it, it will stay running. What would cause this?

If you are not getting a check engine light, start by checking fuel pressure with mechanical gauge.

If you have a check engine light, have codes read at most autoparts stores for free.

Its the throttle body needs need cleaned it has carbon built up in it if you go to a auto part store and get some carbon cleaner take off the rubber hose that gos to the throttle housing and take a rage and out under it open the throttle by hand and spray in it take a tooth brush and clean the carbon off that all you have to do about every 60 to 70 thousand miles just make sure that you get carbon cleaner that is safe for your mas air flow senser
