Out of nowhere on 11/7/09 the day/month/date display in my DIC started to show one day ahead of the actual day and date. This has never happened before. I've reset it to the correct day and date two times in the morning at 8:00 AM and two times in the afternoon at 3:00 PM to no avail. Last night I stayed up and reset it to the correct day/date at 12:05 AM, just after midnight. At 10:00 this morning it again showed tomorrow's (11/15/2009) date. This is extremely frustrating for me as I keep the car in pristine condition. Please help!

The first thing I would do it check the battery and the cable connections because if the system loses power or if the voltage goes below 10 volts even for a second it will cause this issue.

does this vehicle have a factory CD 6 disc changer?if it does its a software issue in the radio, the radio needs to be replaced and reprogrammed if the vehicle was built before jan 6 2004,if it was built after this date it has the software and may just need to have the radio replaced.

Hi Brian
,
First, thank you very much for your help.

No, my Grand Prix GT 1 has a single CD player and it was manufactured in 04-2003.

Are you telling me that the radio is somehow connected to the DIC month/day/date? If so, that never even dawned on me because the radio only displays the time of day. I have not tried to scroll the radio's hour set button through a 24 hour cycle. When I changed it over on Nov. 1st to account for the end of daylight savings time I just scrolled the hour button to to first place it read the seemingly correct hour (i.E. 10 AM standard time instead of the previous 11 AM Daylight Savings time.

Should I scroll the hour setting around 12 hours more? I can't believe the radio and DIC are connected! Tell me how to fix this w/o buying a new radio if possible.

If I need a new radio, must it be the exact same one from a dealer or can it be some other kind?

Couple of things, does the vehicle have PCJ premium sound system? The 6 disc changer should be part of the radio, which means you can load 6 CD's into the radio at once, plus your vehicle was built before january 6 2004 so you might have to updat the radio with updated software. The radio, DIC and IPC are all connected. As far as fixing it without replacing the radio, you really cant, replacing the radio is the only way. If you replace it, you should go with a factory one because it will work with your vehicle and function the wright way, but the down side is the OEM radios cost WAY to much money. You could go aftermarket which is cheaper but more of a headache and might cause other problems.I would possibley call the dealer and explain what happened they might be able to help. As far a scrolling throught it I cant answer that I dont work on many G-prix's just chevrolet. Post back with how you make out.

Brian,

You missed this in my 2nd post. I only have a single cd player and it's the base sound system.

Right at 12:00 PM today the DIC day/date changed to Monday. I set it back to Sunday but then I noticed that the time on the radio was at 12:00 AM so I changed it to PM. Again, I had no idea that the time on the radio is connected to the DIC. If that doesn't work, I'll take it to the dealer over Xmas vacation and see if there's a software update.

I'll let you know if that worked. Send me a post if you have any other ideas.

Hi Brian,

YOU solved the problem! It's been two full days now with the DIC displaying the correct month/day/date since I changed the clock on the radio to PM. I just had no idea that the clock and the DIC were in any way connected.
Thanks so much for helping me with this annoyance.
