We have a 1998 Grand Prix. It's all electrical and everything works fine except the driver's side window. If you push the button, you can hear the window motor working, but the window won't move. All the other windows go up and down fine, along w/the power locks. What's the worst is that it is only abt 2-3 inches from being closed now. Any suggestions?

Sounds like a problem with the regulator. Remove the door panel to see if the reg is working properly, some of those cars used a cable operated reg that would fail like you describe and not move the window even though the motor runs

Sorry, I'm not a car person but what do I need to test the regulator? Also, if that has failed, then what needs to be done? Thanks for the help!

You have to remove the interior door panel to see if th eregulator is working. The reg is the mechanical assembly that makes the window move up and down. Ifit isnt working properly, it will have to be replaced.
