1998 Pontiac Grand Prix 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I checked the oil and it is good, it has water and everything is fine but when I take off it hesitates to take off and it knocks really loud. It doesn't turn off but it doesn't run like it used to.

Hello,

Is it a knock or does it sound more like a rattle or deiseling sound. If it is more like a rattle then I would say that it could be the Timing Belt has jumped timing and need to be replaced.

It could also be the lifters.

Also could be a weak Oil Pump.

First thing to do is to check Timing then Oil Pressure.
