1995 Pontiac Grand Prix engine cooling issue

Hello I need some help I just bought this car and when I accelerate hard like onto a highway the temp needle goes way up but then evens out aslong as I stay under 70 but when I go over or when im idle at a red light or bumper to bumper traffic the needle goes up please help

things ive checked so far
coolant is in the over fil tank
the fan comes on when the needle is high

Disconnect your fans and turn off the engine when it's hot or warm. Feel all over the radiator and if you feel any cold spots that 's probably your probllem. It should be the same temp all over.
