Power steering pump shooting out fluid

97 pontiac grand am 3.1 121571 miles--my power steering pump is shooting out fluid when you turn the wheels all the way to one side or another. It also makes a whining noise when turning the wheel. Pleaase help! Thanks

Okay, am not too great on this, but, I think what you may have is too much pressure or even maybe air in the system, lets just hope that it is spewing out the cap and not the lines.I didnt know this along time ago, but, there is a way to bleed the pump, not too sure how to go about it, but maybe someone here or an auto parts store can fill you in, fill the pump to specs with fluid, then you have to trun the wheels a few times both directions to get the air out. Try it, and let me know what you find

Thanks for the advice. Come to find out, the power steering fliud cap was cracked and I had overfilled it a little. Thanks anyways!
