2003 Pontiac Grand Am

I turned a corner the other night in my car and it started chugging. When I would hit the accelerator the car would rev, but that is it, the speed would not increase. I coasted down to a stop light and the car died. We tried to jump it but nothing. After disconnecting he jumper cables, my car had NO power. WE took the alternator off and had it tested, which it failed. After installing a new alternator the car will crank, but that is it. Is there a reset switch or does it sound like I need a new fuel pump?

Is security light on and or blinking
if so try to leave key in ignition in on position until security light go out its about ten min
