Engine Performance problem
2001 Pontiac Grand Am 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 108k miles

Having problem with acceleration. Car has the potential power and shifts but sometimes sounds like it is revving in neutral. Slowly gains speed. Does this throughtout driving.

This just happened to me. I tried a few inexpensive fixes like fuel filter, new spark plugs, etc. None of them solved the problem. I finally had to take it to my mechanic. It was a catalytic converter that melted down. Yea, total bummer. Anyway, they are not cheap, but the car runs great again!
