Transmission problem
1999 Pontiac Grand Am 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

my car is missing bad. I cant even drive it & it barely makes it up hill. On the interstate I can get up to 70 but my rpms stay around 4,000. I went to my local auto store & they said plug #3 wasnt firing. So I bought new plugs & wires hopin' it would solve my problem but no, it didnt. I have no idea what could be wrong with it.

Don't throw parts at it-get a compression gauge to check cylinder no.3 compression and an ohmmeter to test the injector. Try running a fuel injector cleaner and see what happens
