Im deployed to Iraq and wife emailed me saying that she was driving the car on the interstate and all of a sudden the car started shaking and died, she started it again and it the engine was shaking and was making a tapping sound also some grey smoke came from under the hood. I had the car worked on about a month ago they replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, belts, plugs and wires, and a ac compressor. She had it towed back to that shop but they wont be open till monday. Any thoughts whats wrong with it.

If it was smoking out of the tail pipe it could be a blown head gasket. That would explain the shaking (misfiring). Smoke out from under the hood may be a blown coolant hose, which may have caused overheating.
