My car starts and runs for about 10 miles then stops. If I let it sit for about half hour it starts again. Could this be a bad fuel pump, and if it is where is the fuel pump.

I would look there at the fuel pump sounds like its overheating shutting down, its in the fuel tank has to be removed and whole unit comes out off the top cente of fuel tank. Fuel pump is inside. You must buy a new sending unit for that model of car.

I had the exact same problem on a 1989 Pontiac Grand Am. And it was my fuel filter. Check it first before you go to the trouble of the pump.
