When you turn the key on, if the security light comes on the car won't start. After you wait a couple of minutes with the key in the off position, the light will go out & the car will start (sometimes). This has been going on for a year or so and I think the ignition switch is beginning to wear out too since sometimes it won't start even when the security light is out. This part is just recent.
Any ideas how to fix it?

Does your key have a chip in it? It could be just the key, or the secuitry wire in the ignition. If it is the ignition what you have to do is replace the ignition. It is a royale pain but it only costs about $65. You will need a haynes book b/c removing the steering wheel is no fun. You can rent a puller from advanced, or buy one. The only thing that costs a lot is that the ignition does not come with a key. It comes with a key diagram and you have to go tto a dealer or other authorized key maker to have the new key made. You could see if you have any loose wires under your dash. The security wire should be gray with a yellow sticker on it running from you clomn to a wire harness.
