1992 Pontiac Firebird Engine running at high RPM

I lost my air filter during the week, but I only realize it during the weekend. During the week the engine was working fine, but yesterday it start operate at an incredibly high rpm at park (2000-1500rpm).

Could be vacuum leaks, dirty idle air control valve and an out range throttle position sensor.

Can I still use my car even if the rpm is too high?

Yes you could but you're straining the drivetrain components and again you're burning fuel when its not necessary
