Car is in great condition but lately the engine will shut off without warning. If I wait 20 to 25 minutes usually it will restart again and may run fine for 1 or 2 days. Have taken it to a mechanic 3 times for the problem. 1st time he replaced the control module, 2nd time the crank sensor, and the 3rd time he fixed two faulty vacuum hoses which did shut off the check engine light. He also checked the fuel pump and said it's pressure was 42 pounds. This morning the car ran for 15 minutes to defrost the windshield then shut off again for the 1st time in 4 days. The mechanic is stumped and I am growing poorer each time I take it back to him. Any ideas?

When the car shuts and doesn't restart, you need to check to see if it is getting spark and fuel to the engine. One will be missing.

Here is an easy way to do it. Use starting fluid to see if it will start. If it starts for a few seconds, then you are getting spark and fuel is the problem. Try this and let me know what you find.
