Yesterday I went out to start the van, which hasn't been started in about 10 days. On the first try, it almost started, but not quite. Then all I got when I turned the key was a repetitive "clicking" sound.
I jump started it, and it fired right up. I drove it around for about 15 minutes and shut it down. When I tried to re-start it, I just got that "clicking" sound again.
Once again, I jumped it and drove it for awhile. Again, it wouldn't re-start. Just the clicking.
The battery is 5-6 years old. Is it a good idea to just put in a new battery on my own? I don't have much money for repairs and am looking for a quick, inexpensive fix, if possible.

Welcome to the forum. If the battery is down, take it out and get it recharged, if possible. I'd also have the charging system checked. After the vehicle starts, it should be the charging system that carries the load. One of the national brand autostores may check everything for free?
