1997 Plymouth Voyager leaking anitfreeze

From what I was told the previous owner filled the radiator with stop leak. Now that it's all out, there is a tube at the bottom of the engine that is corroded and leaking antifreeze.
the shop wants 1,000 dollars to take the front of the engine off and get a used pipe and replace it. They say the new pipe is $500.

It's sound too high priced. Is it true what they have to do to get to this pipe to replace it?

When you get a repair estimate that high it is always safer to get several opinions on the job. Or they may even be wrong with their diagnosis. So play it safe and get some more opinions before dishing out that kind of money. Because it does sound a little fishy to me. Don't be afraid to take a male friend with you also, sometimes it helps if you know what I mean
