It been happening for a while, but now is everyday. Once the engine reach normal temperture while cruise or highway driving, if I need to apply brakes for a stop sign coming in, or going into a red traffic light, or simply taking an exit from the highway to a stop sign, the engine just turn off. No check engine light on board is displayed. What I am doing after that happened is just turned in neutral and restart the van again and works normal. On my last visit to the shop they didn't understand why the van is doing that. Could you help me?

Hi prdanny2000,

Thank you for the donation.

After restarting, what is the idling speed?

Does applying the brakes at this juncture affect the idling speed?

Prior to this happening, was any repairs carried out?

Answering your questions, after restarted the idle speed is normal, already checked out in the shop. Also when the brakes are applied while running or while idle don't produce any anormality in the engine function. The fuel pressure is also normal. I, d been with this mini van since 91,000 miles driven back in 2001. Never missed an oil change; the transmission was repaired by that year too with no further problems or issues. By 2004 some computer parts were changed due to sudden decrease on speed while in highway and over 55 mph, but that's done and never happened again. The last tuneup was 90 days ago. The only thing I miss on summer time is the AC, the heater obviosly works. And I gave a wrong number, the actual mileage is 217,000. No big repairs been done just miscellaneus like a radiator fan motor, starter, things like that. I have to say I, d been blessed with this van, said by some mechanics, because still running without big money invested on it.

Under such circumstances, it seems the idling is intermittently erratic causing the stalling.

Try getting the throttle body and IAC cleaned to see if the problem is resolved. Dirty IAC and thrittle body can caus intermittent stalling when decelerating with brake pedal depressed.
