Code P0446 that's a small leak in the emissions?

Ok so I bought this car and I keep getting a code po446 that's a small leak in the emmission or gas cap and there's a hard plastic hose that goes from the air intake to the back of the engine that at that spot was just loose and moving around so I'm assuming it's the cause for the leak so I try to get a gromet to fit in the hole and I loose that hose leaving autizone and nobody had a replacement but Amazon so I get it and now the piece going in the holes to big it goes in but pops back out as if there's pressure pushing it out so the guy at napa gives me this gasket/sealant maker that doesn't help either any ideas on what to do

Yep, when the arts are not available, (obsolete), You need to get creative.

Code: P0446 - EVAP Vent System Performance / Vent Control Fault

But since this this is a control fault I would replace the EVAP vent valve while fixing the vacuum supply, after clear the codes and the problem should be solved. Please let us know what happens.

It says evap emmission systems vent control circuit but u say change the valve to my issue is that I can't find a grommet to fit inside the back of the engine and stay it's as if there is pressure pushing it right back out but what's the name of the part you say to change as well

Yep, you have two problems you need to fix. The vacuum lines and the control valve, you can try the vacuum lines first and then clear the codes and if the code comes back change the valve as well.

This should help

ACDelco / GM Original Equipment:

214-2324 - GM/ACDelco vent valve solenoid (round filter type)
214-2308 - earlier design with slightly different filter shape

Aftermarket Replacement Options:

Dorman 911-062 - round shaped solenoid replacement
Dorman 911-075 - rectangular version (if your harness/shape differs)
Standard Motor Products 2573-05320346 - aftermarket vent solenoid equivalent

Notes for Ordering

These parts fit the 2000 Buick Century with the 3.1 L V6’s EVAP system (there were a couple of different designs over the years, round vs rectangular body, so verify what you have on your car).

Many vendors will list them under “Canister Vent Valve Solenoid, ” “EVAP Vent Solenoid, ” or similar names.

The hose I'm dealing with is a part of the pcv system but it's not connected to anything other then the air filter housing and the back of the engine it has no harness or plug of any kind my only issue is getting the end that goes in the engine to stay in it no matter what grommet I've tried it just pops back out

This code is for the evap system not the PCV system, can you upload images or short video?

What kind of phone do you have? Also, this is the EVAP purge solenoid (purge valve) so this is what the code is for. I see a vacuum line that looks like it is taped? This will be no good, I would get a small piece of windshield wiper washer tubing at the auto parts store for the repair.

That's what I did but I taped around the ends to keep it from coming off and it's a moto g I entered the parts numbers you gave me on Amazon and it keeps pulling up parts that are not for my car they say however it did lead me to a part that is compatible and claims it will fix this code so I ordered it il upload a pic in a min cus it's got a hose connected to it that idk how to remove but the round 1 you mentioned I can't find a specific 1 thats compatible

So I ordered both these parts I believe I know the all black 1 that I asked if there's a hose that goes on that end is the right replacement part not sure it's what you meant or not and the other round looking 1 idk if it's the right 1 or not at all but it was closest in emissions that matches somewhat and Amazon said goes to my cars emissions lmk what u think

Yes, I am talking about the tube with the tape on it and the end of the video, it cant have tape on it because it will just leak vacuum. That line needs to be replaced or repaired with a small piece of vacuum line, just cut the bad part out and use the line as a splice. Thank for the video it helps. Please upload more once the repair is done, you may not need the valve, clear the codes after the line is fixed. Ken

Okay, good job, did you clear the codes and if so did you drive the car for a bit and the code stay gone? If the code comes back I would change the valve out, you can get one from rockauto

I have not changed the valve itself I got it from Amazon yesterday but can't figure out how to get 1 of the hoses of that's got a round clamp style hose on it can you help me do that safely

I did change the hard hoses and rubber ones on the old 1 already cause they had broken but not the valve cause that 1 darn connector

Yes I will but I'm in Oklahoma and we r in the middle of a freezing storm so soon as I can go outside for a minute wo freezing I will but it kind of reminds me of something similar to a fuel line type clamp it's plastic tho
