Hi,

Both of the codes are related. Do me a favor. Switch the cylinder number 3 coil with the number 2 coil. Delete the codes and see if the misfire moves to cylinder 2.

The coil itself may be bad. Let me know the results. Also, I attached a pic below showing cylinder 3 location.

Let me know.

Joe

Hey Joe, I replaced the coil with a spare I had and now it runs lot better. I don't understand why this particular coil misfire keeps returning. But it gets weirder. The check engine light was still on after replacing the coil. I test drove it shut it off and when I came back later in the day and cranked the car the
Engine light was out. There are no check engine lights on now. I have to learn how to use this OBD it has live data I think/freeze frame. I think I may a cat problem I'm thinking it may be an 02 sensor. This NOx code disappeared too. So what's next Joe?

Good morning Joe,

I just started the car and the engine light was not on. So I rescanned it and the only code coming up is the (2308).
The book says not to erase codes before you make the repairs. I'm assuming that the code reappearing in the PCM memory after a drive cycle.
Joe, do you think I should go ahead and put a few miles on it? And see what happens maybe it'll show any issues still stored. I'm not familiar with this new tool but it doesn't seem to display.
The code description like the other one I have. Please let me know your next step I'm very anxious to fix this problem/problems. Thanks Joe. JC

Hi,

If that is the only thing and the light is off, it may be pending. Since you already made the repair (different coil), see if you can delete it. You may not be able to and it will go away on its own.

At this point, if it is running good for you, drive it, and let's see what happens. I suspect you already fixed everything.

Let me know.

Take care,

Joe

It seems to be but I think there's something still going on with that number three coil. I think it's in the harness/connector. That same cylinder has been coming up ever since I had the car. But let me say this All of the diagrams and your information is priceless. I was ready to give up.
Having someone behind you. Thanks Joe you're the best. JC

Joe would you like for me to ask a new question? I just was putting on engine cover I had to move the wiring harness out of the way and after driving all day no issues. The engine light came back on and two codes are showing. P0108, P2305. Map and coil. Can't believe it.

Hi,

There is no need to start a new one because it is still related to the original issues.

I attached the diagnostics below for the P0108. That is related to the MAP. Lets start with that first.

Go through these diagnostics and then we'll hit the cylinder 2 coil after this. Also, let me know if you feel the misfire and if the check engine light was flashing.

Take care,

Joe

Can you narrow down which wire is causing the change when moved? You must have a bad connection or even an internal break in the wire.

Where did you send the email? I didn't receive it.

Here's the meter I'm using. Tested steps 3and 4 no 5 volts and also I got no ohm reading. If I'm doing this right. I don't know why this part is so hard for me to figure out. But it is. So I'm assuming there should not be any voltage. And the 100 ohms?

Hi,

If you have no voltage and no resistance (continuity), the circuit is open (disconnected). If it wasn't, you would have one or the other.

Check that wire for damage. If nothing is found, move to step 5.

Let me know.
