The car listed above (sohv)is running very rough. Checked it with my Bosch code reader, read "no response" from OBD II. Took it in a couple of weeks ago, when check trans-axle light came on (steady, not flashing) they said they could not communicate with the PCM, even though my code reader still did. They assumed it was a PCM failure since the trans-axle was working fine, but could not confirm without replacing the PCM, which they could not program. They checked the wiring, and said it was all fine. I was just wondering could it be anything other than a PCM failure?

It could be a fuse #f30 15 amp that is out is why the computer will not communicate. Here is the wiring diagrams so you can see how it works and the fuse location along with a guide to help you test it:

If the fuse is okay try a used PCM first you can get them cheap.

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find.

Cheers, Ken

One more thing. It is my understanding that since the PCM, and TCM are programmed with the VIN# they will not function correctly if the VIN's do not match. Correct me if I am wrong.

That is correct. The VIN numbers must match for the modules to work. They will have to be programmed to your VIN number.
