My truck cranks but won't start the security light is on solid. I am looking for a way to completely and permanently bypass pass lock.

Unfortunately this system cannot be bypassed.

I am attaching the info below on how it works. Basically the PCM needs to get a coded message in order to start the vehicle.

If it does not then it will not start the engine.

Here is a guide that will talk about this in a little more detail:

What I know that most people are doing is getting the PCM that has this system deleted. That means that the PCM will only need to get the ignition input and it will start the engine.

Please see the info below and then if we have an issue with this system we need to check the codes and find out what is there.

Please us know what questions you have. Thanks

Do you know anything about the resistor bypass people are doing? I don't know much about it but I'm hearing something about wiring a resistor to give the proper voltage? It looks like the PCM pass lock delete will leave the security light on permanently but I'm hearing the resistor won't do that?

Yes I do. However, that is for the older GM vehicles that have a different resistor in the key itself. Then they measure the resistance of that specific key and put that many resistors inline of that circuit so that they can put any key with no resistor and the vehicle still starts.

This is older technology and your vehicle does not use this. Your vehicle has a key that has a code emitted from it like a radio signal and the module picks it up and can tell if that is a correct message. Then sends a signal to the BCM that the correct key was used. Then that checks the needed systems like fuel level and things and if it all passes then it sends a signal to the ECM that it is ok to start the engine. Then the PCM turns the starter and turns on the injectors and ignition.

Due to this complexity, it cannot be bypassed. There are solutions out there to remove it but that requires different parts or even some programs that can be flashed to the modules that removes it.
