Passenger side A/C blowing hot air?

Okay, so my A/C was working great then out of nowhere it started going bad, the driver side is good. Passenger and rear vents are not, however. Changed the passenger HVAC blend door actuator, then the passenger side started blowing semi cool air when it was set to hot air on passenger side, the actuator broke a gear again, so I saw on another forum someone just taped the vent to the open position for cold air. My A/C then started blowing warmer air through all vents, evacuated the system, changed the compressor, and recharged the system. Now the A/C will run for a few minutes, slow way down for about 8-10 secs, go to full power for a few and repeat the cycle for the first 10-15 minutes of driving, after that it runs full power but still no cold air on pass side.

Now we are back to square one, the driver side is blowing cold air and the passenger side is blowing semi cool air, while the rear center vents are blowing warm air. If I was the only one in the car, not a big deal, but I drive with a child and I live in the desert where it's 120 degrees right now.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

When you replaced the blend air door actuator for the passenger side, how long did it take for the gear to fail? Did it work normally for any amount of time? Are you able to turn the blend door drive gear easily?

Just to confirm, when you opened the door, the left side air got warm as well. Are you sure it is the correct actuator that was replaced?

Let me know.

Joe

I believe it was only a few days when it failed the 2nd time. It worked great previous to the start of the issue, which happened out of nowhere. The door gear does turn freely by hand. When the door opened only the passenger side changes temperature. Which went from blistering hot air to semi warm air. It's now stuck on semi warm air.

Driver side is somewhat fine, it does seem to work perfectly for a while, but after about 30 min or so the driver's side does seem to warm up a little as well. Just not as hot as passenger side. They other interesting thing I just realized is, it seems like my far left driver's side is colder than my other drivers side vent, and the far right passenger vent is the hottest vent and has weaker airflow than the other vents. Rear vent is still blowing out pretty warm air as well, no change with opening the actuator, unless there's another actuator that I am missing for the rear vents.

Also, for the first few minutes of running, the A/C will blow at full power for about 1min, then it will barely blow any air for about 10 seconds, and will repeat this cycle 3-5 times, then it will stay blowing at full power.

Hi,

When you say the air force changes, is the fan slowing down or does it just seem to change but the fan stays on the same speed?

What I feel needs to be done at this point is to have the can-bus scanned to see if there are codes stored relevant to the issue.

CAN stands for controller area network. Basically, the different modules are tied together via a few wires. This type of scan will retrieve codes regardless of the module storing them.

Here is a link showing how it's done:

Let me know if that is something you can do or have done. Without this, it is going to become a guessing game and that can get expensive.

Let me know.
