The engine coolant reservoir is full but does not build up pressure when the engine warms up. I checked the reservoir by opening the cap when the engine was warm and had zero pressure. The fan for the radiator is not kicking on when the engine heats up, and she stalls when the engine gets to warm. What do I do?

I suspect we have a couple issues as the fans should kick on if there is pressure or not.

So, let's start with no pressure first and foremost.

The most likely cause of this is the radiator cap is leaking causing the pressure to never build. Basically, as the coolant moves through the system it is sealed by the cap and the pressure builds. Then when the pressure meets the cap rating which is normally between 15 and 18 PSI it will allow any excess pressure to bleed off.

So, we can either test the cap or just replace it as they are pretty cheap.

If the cap does not fix it then we are going to have to open the system and find out if there is coolant movement.

Here is a guide that will help with overheating issues and talks a little more about this:

This means if we have to check for flow then we remove the upper hose and crank the engine. I would route the hose to a bucket as it is going to make a mess unless you have some clear tubing that you can put inline to watch the flow.

However, once we address the possible flow or pressure issue, we can move onto the fan issue.

Let me know what questions you have with this and what you find.

Thanks
