Overheating

Overheated, replaced water pump. Engine coolant over temperature light still on and in Limp mode.

Hello,

This sounds like you could be having a problem with your vehicle's thermostat. In the diagrams down below I have included the instructions from the vehicle manufacturer for the removal and installation of the thermostat for your vehicle as well as the Original Equipment Manufacturer[OEM] part number for the thermostat. Please go through these guides and get back to us with how everything turns out.

Thanks for replying, installed the OBD2 scanner and cleared the codes. The problem went away. The only problem now is that the idle is low like the car wants to turn off but it doesn't.

I been having this overheating problem for a while now. So this is what I had replaced in the matter that it happened. One day it just started overheating but it went back and forth. For months it went up and down so eventually I had to replace the those which connect to the throttle body and the heated hose which is also lined to the thermostat which I got replaced as well. So I ran a pressure test and saw that the there was a leak where the connector hose and the water pump meet. So then I ended up replacing the water pump assembly which is cheaper than the water pump also. But I also needed the new hose that cause the leak. Now it drove great for a few day and now it is overheating again. No leaks but now sometimes when I am at a stop light it tends to overheat and then the oil light comes on and then when I press the gas it goes off and the temperature goes down. Could it be the fan but that is works fine. But I also heard there are three different types of fan for this car. I do not know what to do at this point.

First check to see if fans are working there is a fuse under hood for it of 60 amp. if fan works then re-pressure check it once more as it may be a head gasket problem. also when hot turn key off make sure fan will not work then place hand on radiator in different spots if you can and feel for cold spots if any then the radiator is bad. if pressure drops on test then it is probably a head gasket. there is also a chemical you can add to coolant to test for head gasket at auto parts.
