The car listed above is an LX model, 4-door sedan. So far, no engine damage has been confirmed via oil analysis. Urgent need to find actual problem! I’ve had new water pump timing done when purchased used. Have had it code for a smog related valve and had that fixed. Ran good for awhile then started overheating. Replaced thermostat, ran for awhile then I had valve cover gasket and seal replaced and valves adjusted per maintenance. Ran decently then had a random fluke where she would crank and not turn over. As long as I applied gas peddle she would stay alive but as soon as I let off she’d die out. Had mechanic go to pick up the car and he got in and she started right up. Knowing my car he checked it thoroughly it gave him no issue or code. Drove the car a few times and fine but then she’d start her overheating b.S. —Cannot see the water leaving her and there is no water in the oil at all. Radiator then busted open at the top so replaced it. Then the lower hose was snapping shut on itself not allowing flow so replaced that and now I can see steam escaping at or by manifold gasket where I had previously noticed wiring kind of melts and had retaped with heat resistant covering. These wires up by a cluster of things are and I think possibly the issue... Engine coolant temperature sensor - does it actually impact any air and fuel mixture signals by chance?
My fan is doing something too. While they are both operational and seemingly nothing wrong with them or their relays or fuses... My car used to have this irritating whirring sound while idling that after some time would kick off then back on depending how long I’d sit there - this sound is now absent and so makes me wonder about the timing in which they turn on and off during operation. Would this also be a sensor or switch? My heater runs hot I recently refilled my freon and a/c still gets like it’s supposed to... Although there have been occasions where I've had heat come through my vents without the heater on... Car did not show an overheating at that time at all. I have purchased new parts water pump timing manifold gasket, thermostat and the engine temperature cooling sensor and will be getting some coolant hoses as well but want to make sure I get everything I can because this is her last chance as I have to make a choice whether to keep her or dump her so anything fresh eyes could see would be much nicer than repeating the same circle all prior Honda Civic owners have without much of lasting resolve or solution.
