Truck overheating. My buddy that has previously worked on my truck put on a new water pump, thermostat, refilled with antifreeze and water. Took for test drive, overheated on test drive.

Make sure that all the air is bleed from the system. Make sure that there is no external coolant leak with a cooling system pressure test. Check that the pressure cap is okay, and if all that is okay, get a head check done to make ensure that there is no internal leaks. This is a simple chemical test to see if there is any exhaust gasses in the cooling system. Also, just check that the thermostat is working, take it out and boil it up in a pot of water on the stove. You do see faulty new thermostats from time to time.
