Cranks hard when cold and stalls

Why does a 1999 oldsmobile intrigue start hard when the engine is cold, sometimes it dies then starts right back up, and the idoling goes up and down -but only sometimes. Other times it runs fine. It also lets out a sulphuric smell, and when I race the engine it has a break in the idol past 3 rpms? Please help me?

Check for any codes in the computer, sounds like a sensor problem such as oxygen or coolant temp sensor problems that is giving false readings and making the fuel/air mix incorrect until it warms up.
