I have a 77 Oldsmobile delta 88 and it was running 2 days ago and it has not been started till Monday the 15th. The last time I started it was Friday or Saturday and did not start it till today and the engine wants to start but when the engine wants to turn over it stops and their is a clicking after it trys to start. What could it be. The car has been taken care of I am the 3rd owner of it. Is it the battery? The radio woks so the battery is not dead completely but it must not have enough power to start the car. Is that it, it needs a new battery

The battery probably has a case drain or you have an electrical short within the system

Get a battery capacity test to rule it out then go from there

Subject: my oldsmobile
thanks for that answer, I had it jumped and it started right up after the 3rd try, I drove it in my subdivision for about 5 min and it did just fine. I parked it and I am afraid it might not start again. My thought was a bad battery. So I plan on buying a new battery tomorrow and hopefully the car will run swell. Ill keep in touch. Best regards.

Get the battery and if it fails we move on to the next phase.
