We have a 1985 Oldsmobile Cutlass Sierra with around 36,000 miles on it. It has a 4 cyl. Engine.
The problem is that it will not stay running by itself for about the first 5-10 minutes after startup. Also during that time if you put it in gear and try to move it dies unless you hold the accelerator. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but the check engine light does not come on when you urn the ignition on. There are one or two other warning lights that do not come on either. Do you have any idea what the problem might be?

Hi there,

What are the other warning lights that are not working? There could be a problem with the circuit board on the instrument cluster. I would have a code read with a scanner as it will read the codes independent of the ECU light. That could be as simple as a faulty globe, but this can also indicate a problem with the ECU it self. Cold start systems will be controlled by the ECU using inputs from Temp senders etc, so go to the codes first for an indication as to whats going on.
