Stalls at idle

Hi, I have a 1990 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale.
It's got 174,000 miles and It will stall if I don't keep my foot on the gas at all times. As soon as I let go of the gas it stalls out. For the past month the car was acting funny, it would idle very rough in drive or reverse, and not as bad in neutral or park. Sometimes it would die if I put it in gear. The only maintenance this car ever got was a new alternator, water pump, a fuel filter a few miles ago and of course tuneups. Could it be the fuel pump? I figured a plugged filter its whole life could of stressed out the fuel pump.

Thanks and please respond! I need this car up and running for college or I will have to drop out.

Before you start up-try tapping around the EGR check for improvement-if so get in there and clean out the carbon

Find a way to not drop out of college your sacrificing your future needlessly. If Ras's suggestion doesn't pan out, Check the fuel pressure to verify it is in spec.
