1998 Oldsmobile Cutlass Fuel and brake lines

I am passing my car on to my grandaughter.
Service man said lines were rough and suggested
that they be replaced.
The car will be housed in a warm climate where they
are not equipped to change brake lines (no use of
salt to eat at them), per serviceman.
They are not leaking at this time. Can the lines be spliced, rather than complete replacement, should a leak develop?
Suggestions on how to handle this.

Have you checked them? They all rust to an extent; however, if they get too bad, the should be replaced.

As far as brake and fuel lines are concerned, I wouldn't recommend splicing them. That allows too much room for a leak, especially brake lines. The fuel system runs under pressure, so the same to that. THe only difference, you may smell the fuel leak before having a problem whereas the brakes could become dangerous without warning.
