Engine Cooling problem
1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass Front Wheel Drive Automatic 60000 miles

I just noticed my low coolant light turned on, on my 88' oldsmobile. I added coolant and the light was still on. It has been on for about 3 days. My uncle is a mechanic and he told me it was the water pump. I travel roughly 30 miles one way to school. How long and how much will this run me on average? Any help would be great.

Was your coolant low? If not then water pump is probably not bad. Any weird noises from engine compartment?

What model is this on? Cutlass Supreme, Cutlass Ciera, etc?

Seems more like a faulty engine coolant level sensor (located just below the radiator cap, pic. below) than a faulty water pump then... I have provided an estimate for replacing the water pump on your vehicle anyway though..
