I need to replace rod bearings because cylinder one has spun the rod bearing. What I need to know before I remove the oil pump, is it timing critical or not? (There is a chain coming down from the crank shaft, separate chain from the one going to the overhead cams).

I want to know if it is timing critical or not before I remove it.

Thanks.

Good morning,

You do not have to remove the timing chain but the marks have to be lined up when you replace it.

If you spun a bearing, you need more than replacing the bearing. You most likely damaged the crank journal and the crankshaft will have to be replaced as well.
